Chandragiri Hills is located on the southwestern rim of the Kathmandu Valley, approximately 16 kilometers (10 miles) from Central Kathmandu. The base station for the cable car is at Thankot.

The summit of Chandragiri Hills stands at an elevation of 2,551 meters (8,369 feet) above sea level.

It is famous for:

• The Bhaleshwor Mahadev Temple, a sacred Hindu pilgrimage site.
• Panoramic views of the entire Kathmandu Valley and a vast range of the Himalayas, including Mt. Everest (on a clear day).
• The thrilling Cable Car ride.

The Chandragiri Cable Car ride is approximately 2.5 kilometers long and takes about 9 to 13 minutes to reach the top station.
